So what is "Vous" exactly? It's a french word meaning "You" but
a more formal "You." One that you would use on:
- Someone of higher power
- A elder
- Anyone you wish to show respect to
Now obviously Napoleon is upset in his letter to his wife Josephine, reasons being that:
- she hasn't written to him in four days,
- He believes that because of this she has a lover, and
- she called him..... "Vous" (how dare she?!?!?)
The question we are trying to answer is "Is Napoleon obsessive with his wife?"I personally believe the man is, there is no reason why a couple needs to write to each other everyday during a war.
Today it's very different, we have internet, phones, phones with internet, just many different way of communicating. Back then, it was a whole other ball game (or battle field, if you will.) Now I do understand him being upset about her calling him "Vous" it can be confusing and upsetting, but to say you would kill yourself if you didn't stay together............
Come on... really?.. Obsessive much?
Not to mention it was a crock of bullshit since they later divorced,
and he got REMARRIED...
hope she didn't call him "Vous" in the bedroom, yikes...
In closing, I understand that Napoleon was a romantic, but at the end of the day, nothing is romantic about about killing yourself... unless you die together like Romeo and Juliet...
<3 How Romantic <3
...OH! last little note, they both cheated on each other...
